Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Jay’s Daycare & Learning Center

No matter how little your child is, you have big dreams for their future. So do we. At the heart of it all is making sure they grow up to be happy, show kindness to others, and make the world a better place.

Children of all ages are able to learn how to practice empathy, compassion, and understanding. And everything they do—from reading books and making art to even having lunch—can be experienced through an inclusive lens.

Here’s how we approach educating early learners on the fundamentals of acceptance, how we celebrate differences in our classrooms, and how we honor diversity in our community.

It’s never too early to learn about understanding and inclusion!

Infants and Toddlers

Babies begin to notice physical differences in others by three months of age. So, we take this early opportunity to start small. The lessons they learn now will build on new ones as your child grows, helping them develop a foundation for empathy, compassion, and understanding.

Preschoolers
We Expose your child to new experiences which lays the foundation for empathy and compassion. Then, we take the learning even further by talking with your kids about these experiences and relating them to the teachable moments that arise in their daily lives.

We involve older children in conversations about fairness and justice.

School-Age

School-age kids are all about flexing their independence and expressing their individuality. We open your elementary-schooler's mind by encouraging them to reflect on where they see things that are unfair or unjust to help them better understand other people, perspectives, and cultures.

Talking about fairness and justice is a hot topic at this age (which is why you might hear “That’s not
fair” more often)! That makes these concepts easy for them to relate to.

Well-nourished kids make the best learner! That’s why Jay’s Daycare and Learning Center serves nutritious meals and snacks every day. The best part is it’s included in your tuition! Even if your child has allergies or dietary restrictions, we’ll serve up safe and delicious menu options. At mealtimes, your child will get brave trying new things, practice good table manners, learn to share, and discover the flavors and textures of many different foods!

Nursing, bottle-feeding, formula feeding, or starting on solids is all on the menu! If you’re breastfeeding, you’re welcome to come to the center to feed your baby. We’ll provide a comfortable environment for you to nurse. If you’d like us to store breastmilk or make formula bottles at our center and bottle-feed your baby on their schedule, we’d be honored to do that for you. We’ll work together to make sure we’re offering what’s right for your baby’s age and stage. When your child is ready for solids, we’ve got a world of flavor to share with them!
